Pakistan-Türkiye Business Conference: Transforming Brotherhood into Economic Partnership

From Brotherhood to Economic Partnership

On 4 July 2026, I had the honour of attending the Pakistan–Türkiye Business Conference in Istanbul, following an official invitation from H.E. Dr. Yousaf Junaid, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Türkiye.

The conference brought together H.E. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, alongside distinguished ministers, diplomats, investors, entrepreneurs, and business leaders from both countries.

For me, this gathering represented something far greater than a business conference. It reflected an important moment in the evolution of Pakistan–Türkiye relations — a relationship built on decades of friendship, mutual respect, and shared history, now moving toward a stronger foundation of trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

A New Era of Economic Cooperation

Pakistan and Türkiye share an extraordinary bond. Yet, in today’s rapidly changing global economy, friendship must increasingly be translated into economic opportunity and institutional cooperation.

With bilateral trade approaching US$1.4 billion and both countries working toward an ambitious US$5 billion trade target, the potential for deeper economic integration is significant.

Pakistan brings considerable strengths in:

  • Agriculture and food production
  • Textiles and manufacturing
  • Information technology
  • Tourism and hospitality
  • Skilled human capital
  • Emerging entrepreneurial sectors

Türkiye, meanwhile, offers internationally competitive capabilities across:

  • Construction and infrastructure
  • Engineering and manufacturing
  • Logistics and transportation
  • Tourism and hospitality
  • Technology and innovation
  • Regional trade and connectivity

The combination creates a powerful foundation for joint ventures, foreign direct investment, technology transfer, and long-term business partnerships.

PTIDC: Building the Investment Bridge

As Founder & President of the Pakistan–Türkiye Investment & Development Council (PTIDC), I see this moment as an opportunity to move beyond dialogue and build practical investment corridors.

Our mission is to connect businesses, investors, institutions, and policymakers through structured initiatives that can create sustainable economic value for both nations.

Through investment forums, business delegations, strategic partnerships, and institutional engagement, PTIDC aims to help transform bilateral goodwill into measurable economic outcomes.

The goal is not simply to increase trade figures.

It is to build an ecosystem where Pakistani and Turkish businesses can invest, collaborate, expand, and create together.

The Importance of Strategic Leadership

Economic diplomacy is most effective when governments and the private sector move together.

The presence of senior government officials, diplomats, investors, and business leaders at the conference demonstrated the importance of creating platforms where policy and enterprise can meet.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s engagement with the Turkish business community further highlighted Pakistan’s ambition to strengthen international partnerships and attract greater investment.

For entrepreneurs and investors, these platforms create opportunities to understand emerging markets, identify reliable partners, and develop projects capable of delivering long-term economic impact.

A Shared Vision for the Future

I sincerely appreciate the Embassy of Pakistan in Türkiye, particularly H.E. Dr. Yousaf Junaid, for organizing this important platform and bringing together stakeholders committed to strengthening bilateral relations.

I also remain grateful for the opportunity to hear Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for Pakistan’s economic future and its growing international partnerships.

For PTIDC, the direction is clear: build bridges, create opportunities, and turn diplomatic relationships into sustainable economic partnerships.

The Pakistan–Türkiye relationship has already been strengthened by history and brotherhood.

Now, it is time to strengthen it through investment, trade, innovation, and shared prosperity.

The Road Ahead

The future of Pakistan–Türkiye relations should not be measured only by the strength of our friendship, but by the economic value we create together.

History made Pakistan and Türkiye brotherly nations. Together, we must transform that brotherhood into one of the world’s strongest economic partnerships.
