Strengthening a Historic Relationship Through Economic Cooperation
On 4 July 2026, I had the distinct honour of attending the Pakistan–Türkiye Business Conference in Istanbul following an official invitation from H.E. Dr. Yousaf Junaid, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Türkiye.
The conference brought together an exceptional gathering of government leaders, diplomats, investors, entrepreneurs, and business executives committed to strengthening economic cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye. The event was graced by H.E. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan, alongside senior ministers and distinguished representatives from both countries, reflecting the growing importance of bilateral economic engagement.
More than a business conference, the event represented a shared vision for transforming one of the world’s strongest diplomatic friendships into a dynamic and mutually beneficial economic partnership.
A New Chapter in Pakistan–Türkiye Relations
Pakistan and Türkiye have enjoyed decades of friendship built on shared history, cultural affinity, and mutual respect. These ties have consistently translated into strong diplomatic support and close cooperation on regional and international issues.
However, as global economies evolve, there is an opportunity—and a responsibility—to deepen this relationship through stronger trade, investment, innovation, and private-sector collaboration.
As the Founder & President of the Pakistan–Türkiye Investment & Development Council (PTIDC), I firmly believe that the future of our relationship must be defined not only by our historical bonds but also by our collective ability to create sustainable economic value for both nations.

With bilateral trade currently approaching US$1.4 billion, both governments have expressed a clear ambition to increase this figure to US$5 billion in the coming years.
Achieving this milestone will require more than policy commitments—it will require active engagement from businesses, investors, industry leaders, and institutions on both sides.
Pakistan and Türkiye possess highly complementary economies, creating significant opportunities for strategic collaboration across multiple sectors.
Pakistan offers strengths in:
