Some moments in a professional journey become meaningful only when viewed through the perspective of time.
8 June 2022 was one such moment for me.
On that day, I had the opportunity to appear on CNN TÜRK, one of Türkiye’s leading news networks, to discuss an issue that was shaping the global economic landscape in real time: the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on Türkiye’s economy, international investment, and the future of the country’s investment sector.
At the time, uncertainty defined much of the global environment.
Markets were volatile. Supply chains were under pressure. Geopolitical risks were influencing investment decisions, and businesses and governments around the world were reassessing their economic strategies.
Yet, amid this uncertainty, Türkiye continued to occupy a unique position.
Located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, Türkiye possessed strategic geographic importance, a dynamic economy, and significant potential for international investment.
Discussing Türkiye at a Time of Global Uncertainty
During my interview with CNN TÜRK, I shared my perspective on several issues that were particularly important to investors and policymakers at the time.
Among them were:
- The economic implications of the Russia–Ukraine conflict for Türkiye
- The resilience of Türkiye’s real estate and investment sectors
- Emerging opportunities for international investors
- Türkiye’s strategic importance in an increasingly multipolar world
- The importance of confidence and long-term thinking during periods of uncertainty
The discussion was not simply about the challenges facing Türkiye.
It was also about understanding how uncertainty can create new opportunities for countries that are prepared to adapt.
For international investors, geopolitical shifts often require a reassessment of risk. But they can also reveal new markets, new sectors, and new possibilities.
Türkiye’s geographical position and its connections across multiple regions have continued to make it an important destination for investors looking at the wider Eurasian and Middle Eastern markets.
Looking Back Through the Lens of Time
Looking back today, that appearance represents much more than a media engagement.
It was an important milestone in my personal and professional journey.
Since then, my journey has continued across various international media platforms and forums, including TRT World, Pakistan Television (PTV), Beyaz TV, TV8.5, and Discover Pakistan, while my professional focus has continued to expand around investment, international business, and economic diplomacy.
What has remained constant, however, is my belief in the importance of connecting people, markets, and institutions.
Over time, this belief has evolved into a broader mission.
From Investment to Economic Diplomacy
Today, as Founder & President of the Pakistan-Türkiye Investment & Development Council (PTIDC), my focus extends beyond individual investment opportunities.
It is about strengthening the economic relationship between two countries that share a historic friendship.
Pakistan and Türkiye have maintained strong political, cultural, and diplomatic ties for decades. The opportunity before us now is to translate that friendship into deeper economic cooperation.
This means encouraging bilateral trade.
It means facilitating investment partnerships.
It means connecting businesses and investors.
It means creating opportunities for technology and knowledge exchange.
And it means developing institutional relationships that can produce sustainable economic value over the long term.
I believe that economic diplomacy is ultimately about building bridges-bridges between businesses, investors, institutions, and nations.
The Importance of Long-Term Thinking
One of the most important lessons I have learned throughout my professional journey is that meaningful progress rarely happens overnight.
Markets change.
Geopolitical circumstances evolve.
Economic cycles rise and fall.
But those who maintain a long-term vision are better positioned to navigate uncertainty.
The questions investors ask today may be different from the questions they asked in 2022, but the fundamentals of successful investment remain familiar: confidence, research, strategic thinking, resilience, and the ability to recognize opportunities before they become obvious.
This is equally true for nations.
Countries that want to attract international investment must build confidence through strong institutions, effective policies, infrastructure, innovation, and a clear long-term economic vision.
A Journey That Continues
When I look back at that CNN TÜRK appearance in June 2022, I see it as one chapter in a much larger journey.
A journey that has taken me from conversations about Türkiye’s economy and international investment to broader discussions surrounding economic diplomacy, Pakistan-Türkiye relations, bilateral trade, and international partnerships.
The journey has also reinforced a principle that continues to guide my work:
Success is not defined by a single interview, a single investment, or a single achievement.
It is built through consistency.
It is built through relationships.
It is built through vision.
And most importantly, it is built through the willingness to continue contributing to something greater than oneself.
From CNN TÜRK in 2022 to the Future
The world has changed significantly since 8 June 2022.
The geopolitical and economic environment continues to evolve, and countries are increasingly looking toward strategic partnerships, economic resilience, and diversified investment opportunities.
In this changing environment, the importance of economic diplomacy has only grown.
For me, the journey continues with a clear purpose: to contribute to stronger economic connections between Pakistan and Türkiye, facilitate meaningful investment partnerships, and help transform a historic friendship into an increasingly powerful economic relationship.
Looking back at that day in June 2022 reminds me that every chapter contributes to the larger story.
From CNN TÜRK in 2022 to TRT World in 2026, the journey continues.
And I remain convinced that the most meaningful chapters are yet to be written.
